Matt Minter / Wretched Worst

While I was in Lexington, KY on the Nightmares tour we crashed at Matt Minter and Robert Beatty's house (thanks again guys). We played with their project S.M.E.L.L. at The Void Skateshop. They did a great set which Mark from Nightmares compared to early Cabaret Voltaire.

Anyhow, being in the land of Bourbon, I drank way too much the night before so I woke up in a hungover mess on their couch. As I SLOWLY came to life I looked up and saw the above painting. It was very blurry as I didn't have my glasses on. I gradually saw that it was a car with a woman in it. As I squinted at it, each of the corpses slowly appeared. I was really shocked and impressed as I've never quite experienced a painting that way.

Once I was more awake I spent a long time looking at the painting and really fell in love with it. I found out that Matt painted it so I asked if I could take a photo and put it up on Colors of the Dark. Thankfully he obliged.

You can see more of his work and check out his main band Wretched Worst at myspace.com/worstwretched

Late Addition 10/1/09 - Matt just started his own art blog - mattminter.blogspot.com
